About The Position

The Adjunct Faculty - Veterinary Health Care position is a part-time role within the STEM department at Bristol Community College, primarily located in Fall River. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching and developing curriculum for Veterinary Health Care courses, which may include topics such as Animal Care & Management, Animal Behavior, Veterinary Medical Terminology, Veterinary Pharmacology, Veterinary Office Management, or Zoonosis. The position requires engagement in the teaching and learning process, contributing to student learning outcomes and success. Courses may be offered in various modalities including online, hybrid, or face-to-face, and may take place during the day, evening, or weekends. The starting date for this position is set for the Academic Year 2025-2026, with a minimum salary of $1,397 per credit hour, commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate degree from an AVMA accredited program with current credentialing as a veterinary technician, or a Bachelor's degree in animal sciences or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with college-level teaching or as a facilitator in a corporate or non-profit environment.
  • Experience with one or more groups of animals: exotics, domestics, agricultural, and/or lab animals.
  • Proven technological proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Unique or specialty practice experience, such as animal handling and restraint or animal nutrition.
  • Experience using High Impact Practices.
  • Experience teaching at a community college.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Blackboard.
  • Graduate of Bristol's Adjunct Certificate Program.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
