About The Position

As an Adjunct Faculty for American College of Education, you maintain a strong academic presence and growth in professional development for teaching, scholarly or creative works, and service to the profession and to the college. You report and work directly under the leadership of the department chair who provides guidance regarding academic and teaching responsibilities, service to students, department, college, and community, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Earned terminal degree in a field associated with the department (ESL/BL, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Literacy, Special Education).
  • Minimum of 3 peer-reviewed professional publications and presentations.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in teaching in a formal educational setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing online/virtual professional relationships.
  • Evidence of professional research and/or creative endeavors and expertise in the field.

  • Experience in higher education strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated and creative in proposing solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Handle instructional responsibilities to support, strengthen, and enhance the learning experience.
  • Interact directly with students in an appropriate, professional manner.
  • Facilitate a safe and productive learning environment for students.
  • Respond in a timely manner to student requests for information, clarification of content, posts, and personal queries.
  • Contact inactive students as the need arises.
  • Oversee the quality of the course by reviewing the functionality and content.
  • Ensure high-quality delivery of content.
  • Expand the student experience by personalizing course content with unique insights.
  • Monitor and provide appropriate student feedback on assignments.
  • Synthesize and report student performance data in a timely manner.
  • Support professional relationships within the course room, department, institution, and beyond.
  • Aid student learning of ethical conduct, particularly related to plagiarism and copyright infringement.
  • Direct students to supplemental resources as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and leadership of the college.
  • Promote the vision, mission, and culture of the college.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of the curricula and industry.
  • Participate in educational workshops/seminars and professional societies.
