About The Position

The University of Pikeville seeks part-time faculty who are dedicated to excellence in teaching and student learning. This application is for a position at the Tanner College of Dental Medicine as a part-time academic lecturer. Positions are available in the spring, summer, and fall semesters. Requirements

  • Must have a DMD or DDS degree or equivalent or other terminal degree as required (PhD or EdD).
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, teaching, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures and facilitate discussions on dental science, theory, and foundational concepts, ensuring content aligns with course objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Develop and administer assessments, assignments, and examinations; provide timely, constructive feedback to support student learning and academic growth.
  • Assist in executing course materials, syllabi, and instructional strategies in alignment with the College’s curriculum and educational standards.
  • Participate in faculty calibration and other activities to ensure consistency in instruction and compliance with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) standards.
  • Stay current in dental education and subject matter expertise; collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
  • Assist in preparing teaching materials, technology, and resources to create a state-of-the-art, engaging classroom learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with the Course Director and/or the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
  • Collaborate with team members to foster a positive, inclusive culture of camaraderie, mutual respect, and teamwork that supports TCDM goals.
