About The Position

The Adjunct Faculty - Spanish position is a part-time role within the Arts & Humanities department at Bristol Community College, primarily located in Fall River. This position is non-benefitted and is contingent upon sufficient enrollment. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching and developing curriculum for Spanish courses, which may be offered in various modalities including online, hybrid, or face-to-face. The role requires engagement in student support and the application of inclusive pedagogies to promote equity among underrepresented student populations. The starting date for this position is set for the Academic Year 2025-2026, with a minimum salary of $1,397 per credit hour, commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Spanish.
  • Demonstrated experience with college-level teaching or facilitation.
  • Proven technological proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to carry out duties in-person or synchronously.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Degree in Spanish.
  • Evidence of scholarship.
  • Experience using High Impact Practices.
  • Experience teaching at a community college.
  • Experience teaching Early College and/or Dual Enrollment students.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Blackboard.
  • Graduate of Bristol's Adjunct Certificate Program.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and design Spanish course material to meet learning outcomes.
  • Assess student learning and assign grades using equitable and inclusive pedagogies.
  • Contribute to a climate of multicultural empowerment and understanding.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity.
  • Employ various assessments to ensure classroom instruction leads to student learning.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal, and professional goals.
  • Provide leadership in academic communities, promoting collaboration.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Complete required trainings such as Title IX and FERPA.
  • Adhere to workload specifications in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Be available to students for assistance in meeting course requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reflect the college's core values.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda in all job functions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
