About The Position

The Fine Arts department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions in the area of sculpture/3D. Successful candidate must possess the ability to share extensive knowledge of art history and contemporary practices, approaches, and movements in art. Specialization in a cross-cultural approach to curriculum development is encouraged. Strong candidates will foster an inclusive classroom learning environment with nondiscriminatory teaching methods towards learning difference, race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexuality, physical ability, socioeconomic, or immigration status. Our Fine Arts major area courses require the following skill sets: FA114: Knowledge of basic tools, utility knives, assemblage and structural systems, and the ability to teach a strong foundation of fundamental 3D concepts. FA161: Knowledge of sculpting the figure, ability to teach anatomy and building a full figure and portrait head using an armature working in clay. FA261: Excellent working knowledge of woodshop and welding tools and a commitment to safety are required to teach this course. Skill-sets taught: wood tools such as table saw, bandsaw, jig saw, drill press, miter saw; welding tools using MIG welding and oxyacetylene. Ability to articulate shop-based skill sets relationship to contemporary art and practice. FA361: Excellent working knowledge and use of the woodshop, welding tools, wax, plaster, stone, wood, and clay. Ability to articulate a contemporary approach to sculpture and assist students in the development of concept and form. FA363: Expertise in mold making and casting using both traditional and non-traditional materials. Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades on time. Requirements

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
  • Relevant 6 years of industry experience and or its equivalent

  • Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent
