About The Position

This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position for teaching a full range of legal specialty courses for paralegals at the Western Campus. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. The position requires preparing and delivering learning activities, course materials, evaluating student work, maintaining attendance records, and being available for student coaching. Meetings with supervisors regarding teaching duties and development are also part of the role.

Requirements

• Master's degree in discipline.
• Five years professional experience as either an attorney or a paralegal.
• Demonstrated experience working with or managing paralegals or legal assistants.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent).
• Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills.
• Appropriately responds to the needs of the community.

Responsibilities

• Teaches a full range of legal specialty courses for paralegals such as Introduction to Paralegal Professions, Civil Procedure, Basic Legal Research & Writing, Law Office Technology, Computer Assisted Legal Research, Torts and Evidence, Business Transactions, Paralegal Practicum and Paralegal Capstone.
• Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomes.
• Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts.
• Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations.
• Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required documentation by specified deadlines.
• Be available to students for coaching.
• Participates in periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College, relative to teaching duties and training and development.

Benefits

• Part-time faculty position with a set rate of pay: $942.00/Equated Semester Unit (ESU).
