About The Position

An experienced medical educator is sought to teach Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) to first-year medical students on the Middletown, NY campus. The role involves delivering laboratory content in the OMM department for the 1st and 2nd year OMM courses, preparing and delivering lectures or laboratory lessons, and participating in the assessment of student performance. The educator will also promote a conducive learning atmosphere, serve on committees, provide necessary reports and documents, advise and mentor students, and participate in medical student admission interviews. Additionally, the position includes clinical and student precepting responsibilities in the on-campus community OMM clinic.

Requirements

  • DO or MD degree required.
  • Strong knowledge base in a specialty area of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to teach.
  • Board certified/board eligible in NMM/OMM, or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and motivation to contribute to the growth and development of the OMM department and overall university.
  • Fundamental knowledge of OMM and its core competencies.
  • Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies.
  • Eligibility for coverage by college's malpractice insurer.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver OMM laboratory content in the 1st and 2nd year OMM courses.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures or laboratory lessons on assigned topics.
  • Participate in assessment of student performance through appropriate examination methods as assigned.
  • Promote an appropriate atmosphere for student education and be responsive to students' needs.
  • Serve on TOUROCOM committees as assigned.
  • Provide reports, budgetary information, and other documents as requested by Department Chairs, Directors, and Deans.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Participate in medical student admission interviews.
  • Engage in clinical/student precepting responsibilities in the on-campus community OMM clinic.
