About The Position

POSITION: Western Colorado University invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the area of Strings and Orchestra. Teaching responsibilities will include private lessons on all classical string instruments, string methods class for music education students, and directing the Chamber Orchestra. Other courses may be included in the teaching load based on need and qualifications. The scheduling of private lesson times is flexible, and the Chamber Orchestra typically rehearses two hours a week on Tuesday evenings. The selected candidate will have the time and flexibility to pursue other professional opportunities in the Gunnison Valley, which could include freelance work as a private string lesson instructor, independent ensemble director, summer music camp instructor, etc. At Western, students have the opportunity to earn a degree in Music Comprehensive, Music Education with K-12 Licensure, and Music Industry. Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a closely-related field is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Music (or a closely related-field) with significant teaching or performing experience may be considered.
