The Adjunct Faculty - Natural Sciences (Biology) position is a part-time role within the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) department. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching and developing curriculum for various biology courses, including major's level Biology I and II, Human Anatomy I and II, Cell Biology, Microbiology, and Social and Ethical Issues in Science, Technology, and Health Science. The position requires engagement with students to support their learning and success, with a focus on equity for underrepresented populations. Courses may be offered in online, hybrid, or face-to-face formats across multiple locations, including Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, and Taunton, and may occur during the day, evening, or weekends. The starting date for this position is the Academic Year 2025-2026, with a minimum salary of $1,397 per credit hour.

  • Teach and design Biology course materials to meet learning outcomes.
  • Assess student learning and assign grades using equitable and inclusive pedagogies.
  • Contribute to a climate of multicultural empowerment and understanding.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity.
  • Employ various assessments to ensure classroom instruction leads to student learning.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal, and professional goals.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student's academic communities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Complete required trainings such as Title IX and FERPA.
  • Adhere to workload specifications in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Be available to students for assistance in meeting course requirements.
  • Be willing to teach in the Dual Enrollment program or Early College at surrounding high schools.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reflect Bristol's core values.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda in all job functions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with college-level teaching or as a facilitator in a corporate or non-profit environment.
  • Prior experience teaching online using a learning management system.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using online technology, including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • 18 graduate credits in Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • Experience using High Impact Practices.
  • Experience teaching college-level Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, and/or Ethics in Science and Technology courses at a community college.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Canvas.
  • Graduate of Bristol's Adjunct Certificate Program.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
  • Ability to teach in-person classes at any Bristol Community College location.
