About The Position

Seeking an adjunct faculty member who will introduce students to Career/Technical Education, Career Cluster of Health Sciences and its related pathways: Diagnostic Services, Health Informatics, Support Services, Therapeutic Services, and Biotechnology Research and Development, familiarize students with diverse job opportunities within healthcare, assist students to explore health career certificate and degree programs offered at Illinois Central College (ICC), and emphasize essential skills for academic and career success in healthcare. Adjunct Faculty are primarily responsible for instructing assigned courses and meeting classroom standards. The Adjunct Faculty must follow institutional syllabi. Additionally, Adjunct Faculty will be required to maintain office hours to best ensure student success. Adjunct Faculty teach on a part time basis up to 12 contact hours per semester. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare related discipline, biology, kinesiology.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and it's applications.
• Familiarity with anatomy and physiology.
• Strong leadership skills
• Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines
• Strong multi-tasking skills and decision-making skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Nice To Haves

• Master's or Doctoral degree in healthcare related field.
• Experience teaching at a community college.
• Experience serving the needs of a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

• Develop course syllabus, course calendar, lesson plan, student learning outcomes, supplemental instructional materials, assignments, assessments of learning, grading rubrics, and evaluation tools.
• Participate in faculty meetings for reviewing, revising and improving course and related teaching and learning activities.
• Monitor student attendance, academic progress, and grades, and provide grading rubrics and timely feedback.
• Facilitate student success by assisting with the identification of barriers and resolution of issues, and by referring to supplemental support through access services, academic support, student services, counseling, financial assistance, and other resources.
• Maintain continuous effective communication.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, health care partners, and community members.
• Enhance knowledge and improve teaching by participating in professional development and continuing education.
• Participate in Departmental and College committees, meetings, activities whenever possible.
• Schedule may include day, evening, and in person, online, or off-campus instruction.
• Perform related duties as required.
