About The Position

This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position in the Health Professions department at the Metropolitan Campus. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. The position requires preparation of lecture and laboratory presentations, curriculum review, and practical instruction of laboratory skills in accordance with NAACLS standards. Subjects may include Phlebotomy, Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microbiology, Blood Bank/Serology, Molecular, Urinalysis/Body Fluids, Intro to MLT, Professional Development, Problem solving, Quality control, and Lab Math. The role also involves evaluating practical laboratory skill performance, serving as a liaison between the College and community health care facilities, and participating in the Medical Laboratory Advisory Committee at the College. Responsibilities include providing input for needs assessment, continued development, accreditation, and outcomes assessment for all Medical Laboratory programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and ASCP (or equivalent) certification as a medical laboratory generalist
  • 5 years of related recent (within the last 3 years) medical laboratory experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent)
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of the community

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomes
  • Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts
  • Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations
  • Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required documentation by specified deadlines
  • Be available to students for coaching
  • Participates in periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College, relative to teaching duties and training and development

  • $942.00/Equated Semester Unit (ESU) pay rate
