About The Position

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. Position requires a sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of college students and employees.

Requirements

  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in Medical Technology or allied health.
  • Is an American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified Medical Technologist (MT) or a registered Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Has two years of directly related work experience.
  • For teaching didactic and lab courses for MEDL 101, 102, 200, 201, 205, 206, 214 and 217: Possesses an earned associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Holds current American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) MLT, MT, or MLS certification.
  • Has at least three years of directly related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that best support student learning, and following college loading policy, course objectives, and program learning outcomes.
  • Facilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Communicate with program chair to ensure the classroom and instructional laboratory environment are conducive to student learning and in adherence to federal, state, and college safety standards and practices.
  • Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required.
  • Use Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas) to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Communicate with program chair to develop and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials in keeping with and furtherance of course objectives and program learning outcomes.
  • Ensure knowledge and implementation of emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, and referrals to appropriate college resources.
  • Participate in professional development activities that may include scheduled training, time spent onsite in related business and industries, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills as well as current knowledge within the field of study.
  • Ensure completion of professional development required to maintain professional licensure.
  • Meet all professional development requirements of program accreditor.
  • Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and other technology related to teaching that best support student learning.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to professional area of instruction.
