About The Position

The Department of Media + Design + Communication at the Feinstein School of Humanities, Arts and Education (SHAE) at Roger Williams University invites applications for adjunct faculty to join our team of dedicated educators. The curriculum draws from a transdisciplinary liberal arts environment to provide educational experiences that prepare students to be lifelong learners, professionals, and global citizens. We seek educators with demonstrated ability to support and promote diversity and inclusion, in both pedagogy and curricular development. The M+D+C faculty respect the complex role of adjunct professorships in Higher Education and welcome colleagues interested in supporting their own well-being and the well-being of their students within a collegial environment. The primary responsibility of this faculty member will be to teach the undergraduate course in Public Speaking, from a community-engaged, social justice perspective. There may also be opportunities to occasionally teach additional Communication Studies-based courses in the program. The Department of Media + Design + Communication offers majors in Communication and Media Studies, Graphic Design Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, and Web Development, and minors in Film Studies and Food Studies.

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Communication Studies, or a related discipline at the time of appointment, and have at least two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • We welcome applications from candidates that represent non-traditional diverse practices, cultures, environments, and skills.
  • At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
