About The Position

This is a general posting that will serve to create a pool of applicants for adjunct faculty openings throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. With approximately 300 music students, The University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music in The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is a highly selective and nationally renowned music program. An accredited institutional member of NASM, Lamont is distinguished by an exceptionally talented student body as well as a faculty recognized nationally and internationally who tour, record, perform, publish, present scholarly work, and compose at the highest professional levels. Position Summary The Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver seeks to hire adjunct instructors for the 2025-2026 academic year to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses. These may include, but are not limited to, studio instruction in multiple music styles, ensemble directing or coaching, and academic courses.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Music or equivalent professional experience
For faculty offering studio instruction: ability to recruit students
Teach and work effectively with diverse populations
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and staff

Nice To Haves

Prior teaching experience in higher education
Regional, national, or international reputation in area(s) of expertise

Responsibilities

Provide instruction in academic classes, ensembles, and/or applied music
For faculty offering studio instruction, assist in auditioning and recruiting students
Grading student work which encompasses, as applicable, assignments & exams, juries, and comprehensive assessments related to degree completion
