About The Position

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site in Quantico, VA for the Graduate Business Administration program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following course(s): Innovation & Entrepreneurship ( BMGT 620): An examination of innovation and entrepreneurship in a business environment. Focus is on applying principles of innovation and entrepreneurship to the creation, development, and management of new ventures. Discussion covers the principles of innovation, design thinking, opportunity recognition, funding, and scaling up of entrepreneurial ventures, as well as the challenges and opportunities for innovation in existing organizations. The goal is to think critically about innovation and gain practical experience in managing innovation in organizations and creating and developing new ventures. Your role as an adjunct faculty member will be to: Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning. Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations. Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments. Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program. Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements. We are committed to your professional success at UMGC. Each new faculty member is required to successfully complete our online two-week new faculty orientation, FacDev 411, as a condition of hire.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • 3 years of prior teaching experience in innovation management, entrepreneurship, design thinking, venture creation, or business strategy.
  • Directly relevant, current and active industry professional experience in Business or closely related field.
  • This position is specifically to teach on-site in Quantico, VA.
