About The Position

Erikson adjunct faculty are part-time instructors in one of Erikson's academic programs - Master of Social Work, Master of Early Childhood Education leading to Licensure, Master of Early Childhood Education Online, Master of Child Development, and certificate programs. Teaching may include day, evening, as well as, asynchronous and synchronous online courses and seminars. Adjunct instructors report to the Program Director of the academic program in which they teach. Seeking instructors for four sections of this course. Course: ECEI/IMH 504 Infant and Early Childhood Developmental Intervention. Instructor for advanced course in DIR Floortime. This course requires the level 204 certification as an expert training leader from ICDL. A deep understanding of infant and early childhood mental health and the integration of principles of DIR and infant mental health is also required for this position.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a master's degree in social work, psychology, child development, or a related field is required.
  • All instructors in the IECMH certificate program must have a strong background in infant mental health theory and practice principles and have experience working in the field.
  • Qualified candidates for adjunct faculty positions in the IECMH Certificate program will have demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging.
  • Minimum of a master's degree in social work, psychology, child development or related field.
  • Certification at the expert trainer level as a DIR practitioner from the International Council on Development and Learning (ICDL)
  • Strong background in infant and early childhood mental health
  • Direct clinical experience with Infants, toddlers and preschoolers and their families
  • Strong reflective stance
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging
  • Ability to facilitate group interaction and discussion
  • Comfort with online learning platform, Canvas

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize for class and engage with students in a synchronous online format.
  • Teach seminars or course material
  • Create a learning environment that encourages student involvement and participation;
  • Use a variety of assessment methods as applicable by academic discipline and specific course to allow students to demonstrate knowledge, practice and reflection;
  • Evaluate teaching and assessment methods and use data to continually improve instructional strategies;
  • Use a variety of instructional methods and technologies to enhance classroom and/or online instruction and achieve learning objectives and learning outcomes;
  • Adhere to the course-specific learning outcomes as designated by the program and participate in course, program and Institute assessment and accreditation activities;
  • Maintain attendance records and inform Registration and Records regarding enrollment errors and administrative withdrawals in a timely manner;
  • Discuss performance and provide constructive feedback, as well as, other relevant information to students throughout the semester; and
  • Maintain up-to-date grades in Canvas and submit end of semester grades on time in my.erikson.edu.
  • Maintain up-to-date syllabi that clearly outline the course requirements, goals, objectives, instructional class resources and materials, and institutional policies;
  • Submit required textbooks and digital copies of the syllabi to the library for each semester; and
  • Provide a schedule of teaching and office hours.
  • Refer students to the appropriate academic support services available; and
  • Help students develop professional habits for the field by reinforcing student technical standards;
  • Participate in adjunct faculty and staff meetings, and commencement exercises;
  • Continue professional development and growth according to personal needs and certification requirements, including participation in EI-provided faculty development offered throughout the academic year;
  • Maintain professional competence in the specific discipline or field of study and integrate this expertise into teaching and learning to support student learning and outcomes;
  • Complete all mandatory performance evaluation measures within specified time limits, e.g., Title IX; and
  • Adhere to all institute policies and procedures related to academic programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
