About the position

Adjunct Faculty are part time instructors hired on an as needed basis. Courses may be offered as face-to-face sections in Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, and/or Taunton. Courses may also be offered as online sections. Courses may be held during the day, in the evening, and on weekends (Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays). Please note: Positions will be available pending sufficient enrollment. Starting date is for the Academic Year 2024-2025. The minimum salary is $1,397 per credit hour, with actual salary commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and design Human Services course material to meet learning outcomes.
  • Assess student learning and assign grades through equitable and inclusive pedagogies.
  • Contribute to a climate of multicultural empowerment and understanding.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters students' intellectual curiosity.
  • Employ a variety of assessments to ensure classroom instruction leads to student learning.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal, and professional goals.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student's academic communities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Complete required trainings such as Title IX, FERPA, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Adhere to workload as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Be available to students for assistance meeting course requirements.
  • Foster student success across the college's diverse student body.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reflect Bristol's core values.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the field of human services.
  • Proven technological proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to teach courses in person at one of the locations: Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, Taunton.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with college level teaching or as a facilitator in a corporate or non-profit environment.
  • Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System.
  • Experience teaching social welfare, issues in diversity and oppression, and/or clinical interviewing courses.
