About The Position

Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for an Adjunct Instructor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Studies and Geography at Hofstra University. The Department of Global Studies and Geography welcomes applications with prior college-level teaching experience. The Department of Global Studies and Geography offers a wide variety of courses that lead to undergraduate degrees, or are part of a concentration in Pre-Health. We actively encourage students to double major, and many of our students are pursuing additional majors in subjects as varied as Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, Criminology, Sustainability, Journalism, Public Relations, and Psychology. The Adjunct Instructor/Assistant Professor's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Acting as the instructor of record on a contingent, adjunct basis in the Department of Global Studies and Geography. The Hofstra University Department of Global Studies and Geography invites applications for part-time adjunct positions to teach the following 3 in-person courses in Spring 2026: Introduction to Digital Mapping (Geography 060) - Tuesday & Thursday, 9:40 a.m. - 11:05 a.m. Economic Geography (Geography 135) - Monday & Wednesday, 11:20 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Globalization and Human Rights (GS 109) - Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 9:25 a.m. These are undergraduate, introductory-level courses with enrollments capped at 32 students for the Digital Mapping course and 37 for the other two courses. These courses are in-person only and cannot be taught remotely.

Requirements

  • Introduction to Digital Mapping: A master's degree in geography or a closely related discipline is preferred. Applicants with a graduate diploma in GIS plus professional GIS experience will also be considered. Demonstrated academic expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is required.
  • Economic Geography and Globalization and Human Rights: A master's degree in geography or a closely related discipline is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior college-level teaching experience is preferred for all positions.
