About The Position

The East Tennessee State University Department of Music is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach music education courses focused on general/elementary music beginning in the fall 2025 semester. Courses will include general music methods, elementary music methods, and other music education courses based on the candidate's skill set. Candidates may also teach in other areas, such as music theory, aural skills, conducting, ensemble, or applied lessons. Candidates should clearly explain their skill sets and abilities in other areas (if applicable) in the cover letter. East Tennessee State University is a thriving university of just under 15,000 students nestled in the beautiful highland foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The Department of Music is composed of 175 undergraduate students and a new graduate program beginning in fall 2025. Salary: $1000 per credit for faculty with a doctorate degree; $900 per credit for faculty with a master's degree. The expected load in the first year is to be no less than 6 credits each semester. Additional courses are added if qualified. Faculty may also teach private lessons in the Community Music School.
