About The Position

The General Education department seeks to hire part-time instructors (adjunct faculty) to teach various courses in various programs: · American Civilizations · American Government · College Success · English · Fine Arts (visual art, music, or theater) · History of Technology in the US · Humanities · Interpersonal Communication · Leadership and Human Behavior · Math · Nutrition and Health · Physical Geography · Psychology · World Geography General Education courses at Ensign College offer real and relevant immersive learning experiences and environments. Our focus is empowering learners personally, spiritually, civically, and professionally. Founded in 1886, Ensign College educates 2,200 students annually from 43 U.S. states and more than 30 countries. Ensign College trains students to be job-ready proficient in one to two years at its campus in downtown Salt Lake City and online. It offers in-demand professional certificates and associate degrees, allowing students to earn a working wage while furthering their education. Requirements

  • Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Worthiness to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • Receive clearance from the Church Educational System Ecclesiastical Clearance Office.
  • Commitment to bring about the purposes of Ensign College.
  • Resides in Utah.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in the field of the course being taught.
  • Proven teaching ability at the college level and an understanding of collaborative learning and competency-based instruction.
  • Experience developing and implementing course content in your subject.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, administrative, organizational, writing, and computer skills.
  • Ability to apply field-related skills to the development and/or advancement of course content and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all required training (FERPA, Title IX, etc.)
  • Review all instructional materials (Teaching plans, syllabi, etc.)
  • Support our unique learning and teaching framework.
  • Create and execute immersive learning opportunities.
  • Plan, prepare from and follow an approved course curriculum that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
  • Creates and maintains a suitable environment for learning.
  • Focus class interactions on immersive discussions and activities
  • Evaluate student learning using multiple means of assessment.
  • Maintain and submit timely and detailed student grade records.
  • Maintain a typical teaching load of one to three-semester classes as needed.
  • Attend one-on-ones and other meetings as necessary.
  • Communicate concerns, suggestions, and recommendations to the program chair.
