About The Position

The Department of History is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach in-person, 100-level survey courses in the spring of 2026. The courses can be in any field of history, but preference will be given to candidates who can teach medieval or non-U.S. history surveys. All adjunct faculty shall fulfill tasks and discharge responsibilities arising out of their employment in accordance with the provisions of the Moravian University Faculty Handbook.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates must have a Ph. D. in history.
  • ABD candidates will also be seriously considered.
  • A track record of successful teaching is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses that correspond with Moravian University course catalog descriptions in a manner designed to assist students in achieving departmental student learning outcomes.
  • Provide each student and the department chair with a syllabus that includes a course description, list of learning outcomes, required materials, required assignments and due dates, etc. by the first day of the course.
  • Upload the syllabus into Canvas, the institution's learning management system.
  • Prepare engaging lessons for two 70-minute meetings per week per class that incorporate hands-on activities in which students assess and interpret primary sources.
