About The Position

Moravian University invites applications for the part-time position of Stage 3/4 Art Education Student Teaching Supervisor, beginning in the Spring (2025-26 academic year) or Fall (2026-27 academic year). The supervisor will serve as a mentor, coach, and evaluator for undergraduate and/or graduate teacher candidates in their field placements. This role focuses on supporting art education student teachers during their Stage 3 (pre-student teaching) and Stage 4 (full student teaching) experiences, ensuring alignment with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) standards and Moravian K12 Art Education program goals. This is a field-based adjunct position that requires regular travel during school hours to assigned school sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) in K12 Art Education teaching certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful K-12 Art teaching and/or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills in educational settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel independently during school hours to local partnering districts.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • PDE-approved administrative certification preferred (e.g., Principal, Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction).
  • Familiarity with PA teacher evaluation tools and current instructional best practices is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and evaluate art student teachers in their clinical settings.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and actionable feedback on teaching performance.
  • Conduct formal observations and complete PDE-aligned evaluation forms (e.g., PDE 430).
  • Support mentor/cooperating teachers and student teachers in navigating the supervision process.
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with university faculty, mentor/cooperating teachers, and student teachers.
  • Facilitate triad meetings and coaching conversations that promote reflection and instructional growth.
  • Participate in orientation, calibration sessions, and supervisor meetings as required.
  • Ensure timely submission of observation reports, evaluations, and final grades.
