About The Position

Adjunct faculty in the School of Design’s Department of Film & Moving Image are responsible for teaching courses in film and moving image writing in the BS Film & Moving Image degree program, working with students on the creation and critical analysis of professional screenplays. Your responsibilities may include involvement in off-campus, evening or weekend duties, as well as student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts. Your academic department may also provide you with more specific set of job expectations. Essential Functions Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom or in telecommunications courses and in immediate preparation for them; maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught; preparing teaching materials; conferring with students on course materials; directing individual and group studies, maintain quality control of student productions, and practica; reviewing written examinations and papers; evaluating presentations, and supervising independent study projects. Professional service implies the use of academic and professional expertise to serve your profession, the University, and the community. Administrative responsibilities include student advising, writing syllabi, grading course work, provide course content and develop new courses specifically for the Film & Moving Image major, participate in general curriculum development, serve on faculty committees and participate in faculty governance, and submitting final grades. Assume appropriate liaison roles regionally ( NYC to DC) with related professionals, faculty peers, and film/video production and post-production facilities for the purpose of developing and sustaining the program as well as internship and job opportunities for majors in the program and assist with recruitment of prospective students to the major.
