About The Position

This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position in the Creative Arts department, specifically for teaching Film and Media Arts courses. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, as classes may be offered during the day, evening, and/or weekend. The instructor will be responsible for preparing and delivering learning activities, evaluating student work, maintaining attendance records, and being available for student coaching.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a media-related field.
  • 2 years of recent professional experience in a preproduction/post-production motion media capacity.
  • Strong diverse portfolio representing a professional level of media production and post production for purposes ranging between entertainment, business, documentary, training/tutorial, and/or marketing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent).
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skills.
  • Appropriately responds to the needs of the community.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a media-related field.
  • Industry train-the-trainer certification in a relevant software.
  • Membership in industry-recognized professional organization such as the ACE, ASC, DGA, PGA, SOC, ASA, or IATSE.
  • 5 years of recent professional experience in a preproduction/post-production motion media capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with a range of aspects of production, such as producing, planning, scheduling, scouting, camera operation/cinematography, lighting, sound recording, supervising or executing associated motion graphics, and delivery formats.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in video editing, post-production workflow, and media-management.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing/scripting for film or media.
  • Familiarity with contemporary production environments, set operations, and set etiquette.
  • Interest and knowledge in continued study of emerging digital filmmaking tools and technologies.
  • Advanced-level expertise in one or more of the above-mentioned aspects of Media Arts/Film Production or Post.
  • Teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches a full range of Film and Media Arts courses.
  • Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomes.
  • Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations.
  • Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines.
  • Be available to students for coaching.
  • Participates in periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College regarding teaching duties and training and development.

Benefits

  • Part-time faculty position with a pay rate of $942.00 per Equated Semester Unit (ESU).
  • Employment contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.
