About The Position

William Paterson University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty within the College of Science and Health, Department Environmental Science. Please note that there may not be a vacancy at this time. Rather, qualified applicants may be contacted if and when there is an immediate need, or on an exploratory basis for a future opening. Undergraduate courses in this department are taught both online and in person. Those generally taught by Adjunct faculty include, but are not limited to: Introduction to Sustainability, Introduction to Geology, Environmental Law. The Environmental Science Department aims to create inclusive learning communities that focus on developing scholarship and research about our earth, natural environment, and the interaction between human and natural systems. We offer three unique programs of study-the BS in environmental science, the environmental science minor, BS in environmental sustainability, and the BA in earth science. In these programs, students are mentored so that they develop the skills needed to achieve academic excellence and become the next generation of scientists, educators, informed citizens, and real-world problem solvers.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., JD, or Masters in a related discipline.
  • Full time or part-time employment or active professional practice.
  • Ability to teach online.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional activity within discipline such as a relevant-to-teaching area, a non-profit organization or a government agency.
  • Experience teaching both online and in person.
  • Published peer or non-peer reviewed articles, conference papers, blogs, or books.

Responsibilities

  • Using the course outline as a guide, develop relevant syllabi in order to deploy course content, objectives, and methods of student assessment for up to six (6) credits per semester in an undergraduate course.
  • Contribute to student success by providing consistent and effective support and guidance through role modeling and mentoring and being available to the students for their questions and needs.
  • Teach in person and/or online depending upon course schedules and department needs.
