About The Position
Kean University in Union, New Jersey, is seeking applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Theatre. This role involves teaching various theatre courses in-person at the Union campus, including Script Analysis, World Theatre, 21st Century Dramatic Literature, Technical Theatre Techniques (Lighting Design), Introduction to Performance Design, Theatre Laboratory, and Stage Makeup. The university is a comprehensive institution serving a diverse enrollment of over 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students, committed to providing an affordable and world-class education that prepares students to think critically and creatively in a rapidly changing world. Adjunct faculty positions at Kean University are non-tenure track and are filled on an as-needed basis. Qualified candidates may be contacted when there is an available opening or a possible future opening. Candidates are required to have a master's degree in a related field and teaching experience, although those with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is also required, in line with university guidelines. Adjunct faculty teaching one three (3) or four (4) credit class must provide at least one (1) hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for the duration of each semester/session. For each additional class taught, an additional thirty (30) minutes of availability is required. Availability can be in person or virtual and should be scheduled by the adjunct faculty member, considering student needs. For classes with fewer than three (3) credits, at least thirty (30) minutes of availability outside of the classroom is required per week. Faculty members may choose to provide additional office hours beyond the required amounts.
