This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position for teaching software testing Quality Assurance (QA) courses for the new Programming and Development (QA Concentration) degree. The role involves preparing and delivering learning activities, course materials, evaluating student work, maintaining attendance records, and being available for student coaching. The work schedule will be determined based on business unit needs, with classes potentially offered during the day, evening, and/or weekend.

  • Teaches software testing Quality Assurance (QA) courses for the new Programming and Development (QA Concentration) degree.
  • Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomes.
  • Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations.
  • Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines.
  • Be available to students for coaching.
  • Participates in periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College regarding teaching duties and training and development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, or a related field or 5+ years' experience as a Software Tester.
  • Willingness to learn and/or have experience in the use of instructional technologies to teach traditional, hybrid and/or distance learning classes.
  • Expertise in one or more specialty areas including, but not limited to: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, a JavaScript MVC framework, C#, Java, SQL, ASP, Net, PHP, Android, Swift, SAS, project management, and systems analysis.
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills.
  • Appropriately responds to the needs of the community.
  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, or a related field.
  • 2+ years industry/business experience in computer technology.
  • Hands-on experience testing in one or more of these areas: Web UI, Native App, Web API, Scripting, Load/Stress, Utilities.
  • Experience with both manual and automation testing.
  • Good understanding of software development life cycle.
  • Teaching experience.
  • $942.00/Equated Semester Unit (ESU) pay rate.
  • Employment contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check and drug screen.
