About The Position

This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position in the Advanced Manufacturing & Computer Science department. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. The position involves teaching a variety of courses related to networking and networking hardware, software, security, and administration. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering learning activities, evaluating and grading student work, maintaining attendance records, and being available for student coaching. The work schedule will be determined based on business unit needs, with classes potentially offered during the day, evening, and/or weekend.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field with at least 18 graduate-level course hours in IT.
  • Minimum of 2 years industry/business experience in computer technology.
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) within 3 years.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent).
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills.
  • Appropriately responds to the needs of the community.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Information Technology or related field with at least 18 graduate-level course hours in IT.
  • Cisco Certified Academic Instructor (CCAI).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching networking-related courses.
  • Experience using a learning management system to deliver distance learning courses.
  • Current computer industry certification in one of the following areas: networking and/or security.
  • Teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches a variety of courses including but not limited to: specific courses in networking and networking hardware, software, security and administration.
  • Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomes.
  • Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts.
  • Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations.
  • Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required documentation by specified deadlines.
  • Be available to students for coaching.
  • Participates in periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College, relative to teaching duties and training and development.

Benefits

  • Part-time faculty position with a set rate of pay: $942.00/Equated Semester Unit (ESU).
