The Adjunct Faculty - Communication position is a part-time role within the Arts & Humanities department, primarily located at Bristol's Taunton and Attleboro campuses. The role involves teaching and developing curriculum for Communication courses, with a focus on promoting student engagement and success. Courses may be offered in various formats including online, hybrid, or face-to-face, and may take place during the day, evening, or weekends. The position is contingent upon sufficient enrollment and is set to start in the Academic Year 2025-2026.

  • Teach and design Communication course material to meet learning outcomes.
  • Assess student learning and assign grades using equitable and inclusive pedagogies.
  • Contribute to a climate of multicultural empowerment and understanding.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity.
  • Employ various assessments to ensure classroom instruction leads to student learning.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal, and professional goals.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student's academic communities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Complete required trainings such as Title IX and FERPA.
  • Adhere to workload specifications in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Be available to students for assistance in meeting course requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reflect Bristol's core values.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda in all job functions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Communication or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with college level teaching or as a facilitator.
  • Proven technological proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to carry out duties in-person or synchronously.
  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Evidence of scholarship.
  • Experience using High Impact Practices.
  • Experience teaching at a community college.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Blackboard.
  • Graduate of Bristol's Adjunct Certificate Program.
  • 18 graduate credits in the area of communication.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
