About The Position

The Adjunct Faculty - Clinical Nursing (Pediatrics) position is a part-time role within the Health Sciences/Nursing department, reporting to the Dean of Health Sciences or designee. This position is non-benefitted and is hired on an as-needed basis, with courses potentially offered in online, hybrid, or face-to-face formats across various locations including Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, and Taunton. The role involves supervising clinical experiences for up to 10 students for 12 hours per week, providing clinical instruction that aligns with theoretical content and course objectives. The starting date for this position is set for the Academic Year 2025-2026, with a minimum salary of $1,397 per credit hour, commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • For BSN instructors: Minimum of five (5) years of full-time clinical experience in pediatrics nursing within the last eight (8) years.
  • For MSN or equivalent nursing degree instructors: Minimum of two (2) years of full-time clinical experience in pediatrics nursing within the last five (5) years.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and technology common in nursing practice.
  • Experience working within nursing teams.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Must submit to a background check and may be required to submit to a drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalent nursing degree.
  • Experience using High Impact Practices.
  • Experience teaching at a community college, preferably in a nursing program.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Canvas.
  • Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System.
  • 18 graduate credits in the area of nursing.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions related to clinical assignments, including making clinical assignments, correcting nursing care plans, and reviewing evaluation reports with students.
  • Provide regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students and the nursing/clinical team leader regarding academics, clinical performance, behavior, and attendance.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing Department Chair and full-time Nursing faculty team responsible for pediatrics nursing theory.
  • Instruct students in laboratory safety procedures, if applicable.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to address the college's goals related to technology, academic innovation, and equity.
  • Complete required trainings such as Title IX, FERPA, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Information Security.
  • Adhere to workload specifications in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including completing book orders, creating syllabi, verifying student enrollment, and submitting final grades by the contractual deadline.
  • Be available to students virtually or in-person for assistance in meeting course requirements and supporting academic success.
  • Foster student success across the college's diverse student body.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with the community.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
