About The Position

The Adjunct Faculty position in the Associate Degree Nursing program at Lone Star College (LSC) is a part-time role focused on providing high-quality education to nursing students. The primary responsibility of the adjunct faculty is to plan, develop, and teach nursing courses that facilitate student learning and achievement of course objectives. This role requires a commitment to the mission of LSC, which emphasizes positive interpersonal behaviors, professional communication, integrity, leadership, stewardship, respect, and accountability to students and employees. The faculty member will be expected to create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material, ensuring that the educational environment is conducive to learning. Adjunct faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the college and student demand. They may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year, with classes offered at various times, including day, evening, and weekend sessions. The position requires the faculty member to submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner, utilize a course syllabus following established institutional guidelines, and maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Additionally, the faculty member will evaluate students' progress and inform them of their achievements in a timely manner, attend required meetings and trainings, and be responsible for other related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will possess a mastery of course content, demonstrated leadership skills, and excellent oral and written communication abilities. They should be able to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a diverse range of individuals. A commitment to academic excellence and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning is essential. The role also involves the use of effective strategies to engage students in their learning, including interdisciplinary teaching and the effective use of technology.
