About The Position
The Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Roxbury Community College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Adjunct Faculty in Art, starting in Fall 2024. The successful applicant will possess a strong record of achievement as an artist and will be expected to teach a variety of courses, including Drawing, Painting, and Art Appreciation. Recent experience as a practicing artist is highly desired, as the role requires not only teaching but also engaging with students in a meaningful way to foster their artistic development. In this position, the adjunct faculty member will participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for courses and programs, ensuring that educational standards are met. The faculty member will also be involved in department, division, and college-wide committees, contributing to the overall governance and improvement of the college's academic offerings. Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies is essential, as is collaboration in the development and revision of curriculum and program review. The responsibilities also include preparing and grading class assignments and examinations, informing students of their academic progress, and maintaining attendance and grading records, which must be submitted according to published deadlines. This role is crucial in shaping the educational experience of students and requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
