Saint Joseph's University's Environmental Science Program has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester. Trained experts with teaching and/or professional experience and a passion for teaching at the undergraduate level will be given preference. Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct 1 or 2 courses each semester on an 'as needed' basis. Courses available for adjunct staffing are offered during the day and also in the evening. Courses available for adjunct staffing may include: Non-Major lecture and/or lab introductory courses in environmental science. Less often, a few major-level courses may need instructors, including, but not limited to, Environmental Risk Assessment and Management, Environmental Microbiology, Environmental Law, Environmental Toxicology.

  • Teaching a specified course
  • Preparation of materials
  • Providing support and guidance to students
  • Reporting grades
  • Keeping posted office hours (1 hr per course)
  • Giving prompt, regular feedback to students about their academic performance
  • Reporting mid-semester and final grades electronically
  • Cooperating with course coordinators or other program faculty to assure quality and consistency across the program
  • Cooperating in program assessments
  • Master's Degree in an area of Biology, Environmental Science, or closely related major.
  • ABD or PhD in an area of Biology or Environmental Science
  • Previous teaching experience
