About The Position

This is a temporary part-time teaching position in the Department of English, World Languages, and Cultural Studies at Bethune‐Cookman University. The successful candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills. This position will require the successful candidate to teach first-year composition courses primarily, but the successful candidate may be assigned to teach upper-division writing and literature courses if he or she is qualified to teach higher-level courses in our curriculum. We seek candidates with a commitment and demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with students, as well as the potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. Therefore, the adjunct instructor is expected to be committed to an inclusive working environment and participate as an active member of the department's collaborative endeavors, with a commitment to quality instruction in assigned courses.

Requirements

  • Qualifications include a master’s or terminal degree in English, rhetoric, writing, literature, or a related field, with at least 18 graduate hours in English or writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants should also have at least one year of experience teaching writing at a college or university and have experience using or integrating learning management system tools such as Canvas.
  • Experience in teaching historically disadvantaged populations and first-generation college students is desired.
