About The Position

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Adjunct DNP faculty is responsible for facilitating on-line term-based courses for nursing courses that meet the quality and standards set forth by the accrediting bodies and American Sentinel College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Post University under the guidance of the Program Chair /Assistant /Associate Dean and the Dean of the Nursing Programs.   The Adjunct DNP Project Chair is responsible for facilitating students’ work with the DNP Project process that meet the quality and standards set forth by the accrediting bodies and American Sentinel College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Post University under the guidance of the Program Chair /Assistant /Associate Dean and the Dean of the Nursing Programs.   ORGANIZATIONAL DIMENSIONS OF JOB:   This position works with the Program Chair/Assistant/Associate Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Programs and the Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Programs to maintain curriculum integrity, promote optimum learning opportunities for students and foster a rich on-line environment for the students.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field, master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • clinical nursing experience
  • preparation for working with students in the college or university setting.
  • Must possess an unencumbered Registered Nursing License

Responsibilities

  • Provide all necessary documentation (curricula vitae, official transcripts, etc.) to support teaching credentials.
  • Have complete familiarity with American Sentinel academic policies.
  • Review and abide by the Faculty Handbook.
  • When available, actively participate in regular American Sentinel faculty meetings and other governance activities.
  • When requested, actively participate in American Sentinel or other faculty training programs.
  • Provide updates to curriculum vitae and other photographic, video, or textual biographical material and agree to their use on American Sentinel websites and other public materials.
  • Provide copies of any licenses or certifications annually (or when renewed).
  • Provide regular updates to American Sentinel about other teaching assignments, research and publications, professional development, or academic activities.
  • Provide advice to American Sentinel, where appropriate, on general policies and programs for improvement of student outcomes and school programs.
  • Review the course syllabus and notify American Sentinel of any necessary corrections/updates.
  • Send a welcome message to students in the first Discussion Forum (term-based) and the Announcement area of the course (competency-based), at least 3 days prior to the course start date.
  • Respond to student inquiries with a maximum response time of 24 hours during the week and 48 hours on weekends.
  • Grade student assignments within 4 business days of the due date.
  • Grade all assignments in the order they are required by the course.
  • Participate in weekly discussion forums, post questions, and respond to student posts to engender debate and reflection on course concepts (term-based).
  • Monitor and respond to student “posts” in discussion forums at least 4 times per module and per question, as required by the course (term-based).
  • Mark all assignments, deliverables, class participation, and professor-graded exams and submit such grades to American Sentinel College within 96 hours. Final exams/projects must be graded and returned to American Sentinel College within 1 week of receipt.
  • Follow the American Sentinel grade appeal process if a student submits a complaint.
  • Any additional duties assigned by the Program Chair/Assistant Dean/Dean.
  • Review project-related documents and notify American Sentinel of any necessary corrections/updates.
  • Meet regularly with students to ensure they make adequate progress on their projects.
  • Manage individual students’ project processes in the DNP Workroom, ensuring that the project topic meets the needs of a scholarly DNP Project as outlined in the AACN guidelines for Projects.
  • Review project submissions within 10 business days (5 days preferred) from the date of submission.
  • Respond to student inquiries with a maximum response time of 24 hours during the week and 48 hours on weekends.
  • Prepare students for Proposal and Final Defenses.
  • Assist students in scheduling their Proposal and Final Defenses.
  • Attend and actively participate in Proposal and Final Defenses sessions.
  • Review students’ IRB application for accuracy.
  • Assist the student with project implementation and data analysis.
  • Any additional duties outlined in the DNP Project Guide.
