About The Position

Antelope Valley College invites applications for our applicant pool for the Coaching discipline. Adjunct Instructors are temporary, part-time faculty responsible for coaching the Varsity Women's Cross-Country teams and managing all aspects related to the Cross-Country program. This includes off-season conditioning, team courses, and ensuring the success of student-athletes in their academic and vocational training goals.

Requirements

  • Possession of a master's or above in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education.
  • Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's or above in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Coach the Varsity Women's Cross-Country teams and manage all aspects of the Cross-Country program.
  • Assign off-season conditioning and team courses based on qualifications.
  • Select, train, and supervise assistant coaching and game operations staff.
  • Motivate and guide student-athletes to achieve academic success and assist in their matriculation to the four-year level.
  • Evaluate, plan, and coordinate programs relevant to the success of student-athletes in the Intercollegiate Women's Cross-Country programs.
  • Oversee preparation of the schedule.
  • Monitor and stay within the assigned budget.
  • Engage in approved fundraising activities to supplement the program budget.
  • Assist in the identification, procurement, and inventory of supplies and equipment for the programs.
  • Ensure all facilities and modes of transportation are used safely and maintained properly.
  • Promote the programs within the community through recruiting, public appearances, and community service.
  • Observe all Antelope Valley College District Board Policies and Procedures.
  • Comply with all California Community College Athletic Association, Western State Conference, and college rules, regulations, and policies.
