Bargaining Unit: UUP Job Summary: The College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly Adjunct Clinical Instructor. The successful candidate will: Teach and/or supervise students in clinical specialty areas (Medical-Surgical, Pediatric, Obstetrics/ Gynecology, Mental/Behavioral Health, and Community Health Nursing). Clinical teaching/supervision may include: Orienting students to the patient care unit. Assuring adherence to hospital/agency policies and procedures including those for patient records and documentation systems. Conducting clinical pre- and post- conferences with students to the specific roles and responsibilities; Assigning students to patients. Review clinical objectives and criteria with students. Assign students to interpersonal case presentation. Provide and guide student as it related to College of Nursing clinical policies; Evaluate student's clinical performance and submit these to the Clinical Coordinator; communicate with Clinical Coordinator, Program Directors and Executive Vice Dean.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree.
  • New York State Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner Licensure.
  • 2 to 4 years of continuous clinical nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Undergraduate and Graduate level teaching experience.
