The primary duty of this position is to lead and instruct practical nursing students through clinical experiences of; Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Maternal Child and Pediatric Nursing, and Mental Health Nursing. Clinical partners include Bayhealth Medical Center, Tidal Health, Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Milford Center, PAM Acute Rehabilitation, Delaware Veteran's Home, Dover Behavioral Health and Maxim Healthcare Services. Scheduling can vary due to clinical access. Additional compensated duties include participation in monthly faculty meetings, student advisement, participation in nursing lab and simulation activities, curriculum and program development, and community health events. New instructors undergo formal orientation to the instructor role and to each clinical site. Mentoring and professional development resources and support are provided. One needn't have direct experience in each care environment to effectively lead a clinical group. This position is especially suited for nurses who gain satisfaction in helping others develop and succeed in a demanding profession. Adaptability and attentiveness to outcomes are also important qualities.
