About The Position

This position is part time. The major responsibility of the position is C.N.A direct instruction and clinical instruction of students at the Boston site. Responsible for teaching, supervising, and evaluating Quincy College C.N.A. students in the clinical and/or laboratory setting. The work schedule may include morning, afternoon or evening instruction and/or weekend clinical instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) with two years of working as RN
  • Current licensure in good standing as a registered nurse in Massachusetts required
  • CNA experience in long-term care requirement & acute care experience (optional)
  • Teaching experience with multi-cultural and learning disabled students in either classroom or clinical setting
  • Minimum of one-year experience in lesson planning, lesson delivery, student evaluation and remediation in a position such as in-service coordinator or staff educator in a healthcare setting
  • Completion of a minimum of 24 Board of Registration in Nursing approved continuing education hours in curriculum development, teaching adult learners and student evaluation
  • Minimum of two years full time employment in nursing or its equivalent within the past five years, and evidence of clinical competence in area of clinical instruction
  • Current Basic Life Care for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification
  • Ability to meet clinical site CORI requirements pursuant to licensing and CHSB regulations
  • Immunization requirements consistent with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health College

  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • Laboratory and/or clinical simulation teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrates understanding and commitment of Nursing Education and working with a diverse population
  • Ability to adapt, manage and prioritize in role
  • Flexibility and commitment in work arrangements required

Responsibilities

  • Direct, instruct, and facilitate student learning outcomes in the clinical or laboratory setting
  • Communicate effectively with students and members of the agency intraprofessional team
  • Engage with students in a teaching/learning process that prepares students for the practice of nursing
  • Serve as a professional role model upholding regulatory, ethical, and nursing standards of practice
  • Evaluate student performance and competence in the laboratory and/or clinical settings
  • Prepare patient assignments, supervise, educate, and evaluate students in diverse clinical settings
  • Advise assigned students
  • Maintain attendance and clinical experience progress records for assigned students
  • Maintain communication with lead course faculty and C.N.A Program Clinical Director regarding student progress and/or instructional issues
  • Collaborate with college personnel and the staff of health care agencies
  • Participate in clinical agency orientation if applicable
  • Comply with clinical agency policies and procedures as applicable
  • Continue to improve expertise in nursing and teaching through academic study, clinical practice, and other appropriate professional development activities
  • Participate in mandatory training/coursework, including new adjunct faculty orientation and clinical site orientation as applicable
  • Attend faculty and/or student meetings
  • Assume other duties as assigned
