About The Position

The Department of Economics seeks to hire a non-tenure-track Adjunct Assistant Professor in Agricultural Economics with interests in the economics of energy and/or water. The approximate division of responsibilities for this position is 15% research, 25% teaching, 55% extension and outreach, and 5% institutional service. The appointment term is three years, renewable upon satisfactory performance. The home college for the position is the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The individual in this position is expected to develop a nationally recognized research and outreach program in the economics surrounding the nexus of agriculture, energy, and water. The research and outreach program will be expected to address critical agricultural, energy, and water issues relevant to Iowa and the U.S.. The individual will maintain one or more active projects under the auspices of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate across departments, extension units, and university centers. The research and teaching activities are envisioned to be synergistic with the outreach activities. A natural outcome of these activities will be applied outreach materials targeting producers, agribusiness professionals, and other relevant groups; original research in agricultural economics leading to publications in appropriate refereed journals and other professional outlets; and presentations at professional conferences. The successful candidate will be expected to generate extramural funds to support outreach and research activities. Opportunities will exist to serve on graduate academic plan committees. The candidate will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The teaching assignment is expected to be approximately 2 courses per year.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Economics, Agricultural Economics or related field.

Responsibilities
