About The Position

Johnson County Community College is looking for an adjunct professor to teach a stacked section of Ceramics I and II in the Summer of 2026 with a possibility of continued employment in the department of Fine Arts.

Requirements

  • MFA in Ceramics or Sculpture (with demonstrated expertise in Ceramics).
  • Experience working within a college curriculum, showing an ability to follow syllabus guidelines and level appropriate assignments for the program.
  • Knowledge and experience working with gas and electric kilns in a context of a ceramic studio.
  • Experience teaching ceramics to undergraduate ceramics students, including: Teaching/ demonstrating wheel throwing and handbuilding to freshman/ sophomore level college students.
  • Knowledge of and having experience teaching a variety of surface applications, such as greenware and glazing techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with art- and non-art majors in the context of a community college.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative studio environment.
