About The Position

ABX Innovative Packaging Solutions is a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging providing critical applications in healthcare, personal care, and food products. Our growing company is seeking an Adhesive Technician for 1st shift (6AM-6PM) in the Schaumburg, IL location. The adhesive technician is responsible for ensuring that adhesives are accurately mixed for use in extrusion laminations, solvent laminations, and solventless laminations. This position requires high degree of accuracy and organization.

Requirements

  • Some working knowledge of Extruder and/or Laminator processes
  • Must be able to weigh in pounds and ounces
  • Minimum of 2-years working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems to minimize defects/errors
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Basic math skills

Nice To Haves

  • Batch mixing experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Follow all adhesive safety requirements
  • Ensure proper grounding procedures strictly followed
  • Capable of using excel spreadsheets to calculate proper mix ratios and quantities
  • Accurately mix adhesives using proper batch formulas, accurate weighing, possible heating, recording, etc.
  • Ensure adhesives and catalysts are properly labeled (safety and environmental)
  • Maintain and organize inventory inside the adhesive room
  • Properly label, maintain, and organize hazardous waste in the collection area
  • Prep hazardous waste for shipment as needed
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the adhesive room
  • Receive bulk solvent shipments and drum deliveries
  • Maintain outside storage area for empty drums
  • Alert maintenance in a timely fashion as to any mechanical issues noticed
  • Maintain accurate inventory and reconcile system in adhesive storage area
  • Ensure adhesive room equipment is clean and organized
  • Clean adhesive and primer gravures using the MicroClean station
  • Inspect adhesive and primer gravures for cleanliness and damage. Document findings on the cylinder inspection form
  • Support E&L production lines as needed. This includes hanging raw materials, unloading finished product, cleaning out adhesive stations, etc.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as needed
