About The Position

Currey Ingram Academy is seeking to recruit counselors for the ADHD Summer Treatment Program (STP). This is an evidence-based, therapeutic program devoted to children ages 8 to 12 with ADHD, following the model developed by Dr. William Pelham. Children participate in a variety of recreational and academic activities under the supervision of counselors, who implement a comprehensive behavior modification system. Group Counselors These staff members are typically undergraduate or graduate students majoring in education, psychology, social work, or a related field. Teams of three counselors implement the treatment program with their group of 10 to 12 children. Counselors lead social skills training and enrichment activities. They also serve in supportive roles during sports and classroom activities. Counselors develop individualized goals for children’s daily report cards and communicate with families about their children’s progress. One counselor on each team will be designated as Lead Counselor and will take on additional leadership responsibilities within his or her group. Sports Counselors These staff members are typically educators or graduate students in education, psychology, social work, or a related field. They are knowledgeable about sports (basketball, soccer, kickball, and whiffleball) and have experience coaching children. These counselors will plan and lead skill drills and supervise games, with the support of Group Counselors. Educational Counselors These staff members are typically educators or graduate students in education, psychology, social work, or a related field. The Lead Teacher and Academic Aide will facilitate the Academic Learning Center, where children complete seat work based on their individual skill level, engage in cooperative learning activities, and use educational technology. The Art Teacher will plan and lead creative activities in the Art Learning Center. All educational counselors will implement a response cost behavior management system. The STP runs from June 8 to July 24 (except the week of June 29 - July 3), five days per week. Training will take place June 3 - 5. Staff members will be compensated with a stipend. Please include at least two professional references with your application. Please apply on our website: curreyingram.org/about/careers Contact STP Director Regan Anderson: [email protected]
