Department Overview: The Air Defense Ground Equipment Mechanical Design Department is responsible for the mechanical design, development, and integration of critical defense platform systems. This includes radar and communications shelters, electronic subsystems, launchers, hardware integration, and system interconnects. Role is an On-Site role in Tewksbury, MA What You Will Learn Perform mechanical design checks, and checking of documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements. Lead small mechanical or cross functional engineering team as the technical focal point within an integrated product team environment. Support the factory and suppliers with product integration domestically. Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges. Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Experience and developing mechanical equipment.
  • Extensive background in mechanical design, development, material selection, or manufacturing processes
  • Experience with CAD design tools or associated product data management tools.
  • Experience in the tools of CREO, AutoCAD, and Raster
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the tools of Mentor, Inventor, Firmware, and Solidworks
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-31000, ASME Y14.24, ASME Y14.100, and ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) experience
  • Experience with Windchill PDM or similar product data management tool
  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, while also being a team player, self-driven leader with excellent collaboration skills
