About The Position

The Addictions Outreach Team Member assists in development and implementation of outreach services for individuals with a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) diagnoses. This may include admission to a medical detox facility, working with clients to access a residential treatment facility or find a shelter bed and other services as directed by Recovery Support Services manager. Our efforts are conducted in homeless shelters, hospitals, jails, community agencies and walk-ins at NARA facilities for individuals who have SUD. Outreach works to enhances Native American individuals access to relevant services for holistic care to include prevention, and addictions treatment.

Requirements

  • Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) certificate through MHACBO required
  • Either a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required.
  • Minimum two years’ (preferred) experience serving the serving the needs of adults with SUD
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record with proof of auto insurance.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with community members, the community and staff
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests, criminal background, and DMV checks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus

Responsibilities

  • Participate in team outreach assessments when appropriate.
  • Develop an action plan for individuals identified by outreach team, including referral to other supports and resources.
  • Outreach to community alcohol and drug treatment providers, individuals in hospitals, individuals involved in the correctional system or who are homeless.
  • Regular outreach to area detox centers to facilitate access for individuals needing detoxification services.
  • Provide culturally appropriate clinical consultation and advocacy to enhance care of Native American individuals in hospitals, jails, schools, public agencies and in the community.
  • Promote Outreach activities and other agency services at community events such as a powwow, annual picnics, and tribal events.
