About The Position

The Addiction Counselor 2 will supervise a case management team providing addiction services and supports in addition to performing other duties related to the care and counseling of clients. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: obtaining clinical information of clients and assisting in contacting insurance companies for preauthorization payments, and/or filing appeals on denials of preauthorization; participating in the formulation, management, development, and oversight of services; providing full range of clinical and administrative supervision to subordinate staff; monitoring clinical record-keeping to ensure compliance with OASAS and regulatory requirements; providing clinical consultation to subordinate staff; ensuring that individual and group counseling is provided to all clients assigned to subordinate case management team; completing required client and facility documentation; maintaining relationships with various agencies associated with client rehabilitation; providing direct clinical services to clients; facilitating individual and group therapy; serving as a senior member of a multidisciplinary treatment team; overseeing specialized service components; collaborating with team members; communicating shift change information; serving as building supervisor in the absence of assigned ATC leadership; performing other job-related duties as assigned; and transporting clients using agency vehicles.

Requirements

  • Currently employed as an Addictions Counselor 2 OR Current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Advanced Counselor (CASAC-Advanced) or Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Master Counselor (CASAC-Master) in NYS AND one-year post-CASAC professional counseling experience OR eligible for transfer.
  • Possess current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York State.
  • Eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.

  • Experience with co-occurring disorders, gambling, LGBTQIA, and/or cultural specific services.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in clinical leadership and in committees or work groups as assigned.
  • Monitor clinical record-keeping to ensure compliance with OASAS and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clinical consultation to subordinate staff, offering intervention or supervision when necessary.
  • Ensure that individual and group counseling is provided to all clients assigned to subordinate case management team.
  • Complete required client and facility documentation adhering to applicable OASAS procedures and confidentiality regulations.
  • Maintain relationships with vocational, educational, social services, probation, parole, referral agencies, and other community agencies associated with client rehabilitation.
  • Provide direct clinical services to clients and may carry a caseload as a primary counselor.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy, educational presentations, and related tasks in support of quality client care.
  • Serve as a senior member of a multidisciplinary treatment team; performing assessment, treatment planning, case management, and clinical services.
  • Oversee specialized service components specific to the ATC.
  • Collaborate with members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate and coordinate all facets of client care.
  • Communicate shift change information as appropriate.
  • Serve as building supervisor in the absence of assigned ATC leadership.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Transport clients using agency vehicles.
