The Addictions Counselor 1 position at the Russell E. Blaisdell Addiction Treatment Center (ATC) in Orangeburg, NY, is a full-time role that plays a crucial part in the multidisciplinary treatment team. The counselor will work under the supervision of a higher-level Addictions Counselor or Licensed Master Social Worker, focusing on the care and counseling of clients dealing with addiction issues. This position is essential for maintaining the health and safety of clients within the facility, which operates 24/7/365. The Addictions Counselor 1 will be responsible for managing clinical services and direct care for assigned groups of clients, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and treatment throughout their recovery journey. The role involves developing and providing both group and individual treatment services, particularly during evening and weekend programming. The counselor will conduct individual and group therapy sessions, facilitate recreational and vocational activities, and monitor patient compliance with treatment goals. Additionally, the counselor will be responsible for completing various assessments, maintaining documentation in accordance with OASAS procedures, and providing orientation to clients about the treatment facility's programs and policies.
