The Primary Therapist conducts individual, group and family therapy in accordance with license requirements, CARF standards and Caron Policies. Evaluates signs and symptoms of alcohol/ drug abuse and other coexisting conditions. Identifies strengths, weaknesses, and problem areas to develop the clinical formulation; translates these issues into a treatment plan with individual patient involvement. The Primary Therapist provides counseling for each individual patient and their families by selecting the counseling theories, apply techniques to assist the patient, group, or family in accordance with cultural, gender, lifestyle, and age difference. Coordinates all services for client care. Able to recognize the elements of the patient's crisis, implement an immediate course of action appropriate to the crisis, and utilize all Caron Renaissance's resources to resolve/ treat the patient group in a timely manner. The Primary Therapist effectively communicates relevant clinical information to the patient, family, group, and staff. Responds to off hour issues/concerns in a timely and effective manner. The Primary Therapist has the ability to identify needs and problem areas that are beyond the scope of care offered by Caron. Must be able to explain rationale for referral to patient and match the appropriate referral to the patients' needs.
