About The Position

This is an INTERNAL recruitment. Applicants must be current regular, temporary or relief/on-call employees of Marion County. As an Addiction Recovery Mentor, you will respond alongside a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or Associate (QMHA) to calls from diverse sources, including 988, law enforcement, community members, business owners, family members, and individuals in need. You will provide support in the community during difficult times as well as build strong relationships with individuals in service and community partners while connecting them to critical resources. In addition, you will deliver mentoring services across various settings, ensuring those we serve receive the highest quality care and support. Requirements

  • High School diploma, or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years in recovery from substance use dependence.

Nice To Haves

  • Current MHACBO (Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon) CRM certification (Certified Recovery Mentor) within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Knowledge of general concepts of substance use disorders and mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics and individual and group counseling principles.
  • Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support persons served in county addiction treatment programs in accessing community health and social services.
  • Refer persons served to appropriate resources and advocate to obtain required services as necessary.
  • Provide information and education on wellness-related issues.
  • Build rapport with persons served and identify their needs.
  • Conduct outreach to engage persons who would benefit from addiction treatment services.
  • Assist persons served in reestablishing awareness of internal resources.
  • Identify health and safety risks to self or others and apply crisis prevention, management, and de-escalation skills.
  • Render mentoring services and supports in both office and community settings.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and community partners.
  • Assist persons served in accessing resources needed for recovery from substance abuse problems.
  • Provide case management and care coordination services.
  • Assist in making timely referrals to other professionals, agencies, community programs, or appropriate resources.
  • Evaluate outcomes of referrals.
  • Assist in removing barriers to success and transport persons served to necessary appointments.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with community partners.
  • Advocate on behalf of persons served and support resource development.
  • Provide outreach and engagement in partnership with peace officers and corrections professionals.
  • Determine and address immediate/crisis needs at the point of contact with peace officers.
  • Ensure the safety and stability of persons served.
  • Identify when there is a need for professional substance use disorders and/or mental health assessment.
  • Assist with intake procedures and gather relevant information.
  • Prepare and update case management plans.
  • Provide referral/case management/follow-up supports.
  • Prepare and maintain confidential records.
  • Monitor progress and collaborate with community partners.
  • Document services rendered in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate in team meetings and supervision.
  • Provide backup to BHCC by answering phones.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by your supervisor.
