The Program Physician assists in providing patient care, including patient evaluations and health screenings. This role supports the Medical Director by performing intake, discharge, and administrative procedures while effectively communicating with the nursing staff, counselors, and Program Director. The physician is responsible for conducting physical examinations of all patients upon admission, including annual physical examinations and health examinations, and reviewing admissions-related laboratory results with patients. All examinations must comply with applicable rules and regulations for medically monitored treatment programs in the state where the clinic operates. The physician will also issue patient medication change orders, complete readmission physical examinations, and be available for emergency management of patient care. Additionally, the physician will refer patients to primary care providers for medical conditions unrelated to narcotic addiction, train nursing staff, supervise nursing staff regarding medication dosage changes, provide reports as requested, and attend weekly treatment team meetings.
